BOOK SHOPS

Whithorn has two secondhand bookshops, with books on all subjects, while Vickers Newsagents offers a room full of the latest paperback fiction.

Whithorn's two shops have a medium-sized general stock, with concentrations on poetry, fishing and hunting, Scottish topography, history and much more. Wyche books also carries out searches and bookbinding, as well as selling cards and prints. Pend Books is a largely internet-based bookselling business.

There is also an extensive selection of fiction and paperbacks at Vickers Newsagents, and new books and OS maps at Cameron's newsagents, both located in George Street.

Whithorn, which itself has two shops exclusively selling secondhand books, is only ten miles from Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town www.wigtown-booktown.co.uk.

Wigtown and surrounding area now has thirty book-related businesses, which include a cookery, art and wildlife specialists, a private press, a craft bookbinder, and bookshop-café.
